The beer was well received and both (5) gallon kegs were gone within a few hours. I had the chance to meet some great people who had loads of questions about the beer and brewing process for it. It's going to be brewed again in the coming weeks with hops right from the farm. They are coming along great and should be ready for harvest soon.
The same day as the Pig Roast was the NJ State Fair's Homebrew Competition. I was pleased to see the two beers I entered both took Gold in their categories, Light Lager (Root Cellar Helles) and IPAs (Adsultim/Citra IPA). Both have done well in previous competitions but I was very pleased to see them do so well again with slight tweaking of the recipes. You'll notice that the Light Lagers only had 3 entries, so the 'award' isn't really all that important but the beer scored a 42 which is excellent. This weekend is Malt Madness 2013, last year the Helles took Gold so here's to hoping for a repeat performance.
