The picture to the left is immediately following my XRays at the Urgent Care facility off the mountain, about 2 hours post-accident. Notice I'm proudly repping Five Mile while sporting a sweet new arm sling and still rocking the snowboard pants/boots. I had surgery this past week to repair the break. (1) Titanium plate and (6) screws later I'm feeling much better.
Tomorrow I'll be brewing up a traditional English Style Porter, there might be a coffee addition but I haven't determined that yet. Then, in the coming weeks I'll be brewing with my good friend Jack and resurrecting my Colonial Porter. I am able to design and oversee the operation, but can't really participate other than lending a single hand here or there. Luckily I have some great friends to keep the brewing going.
The other component to this injury/surgery is that I'm now taking blood thinners for a month and can't consume alcohol other than a few ounces of beer here or there. It's quite said, really, but it just makes me appreciate beer even more. That first pint I get to have in a few weeks will be glorious.
One bit of good news, our Vienna Lager took home 2nd in Malt Madness 2013 for European Amber Lagers, that news literally came in an hour after the picture above was taken. It appears our German Lagers fair pretty well in competition, we'll see how it does at the AHA.
